What does a J.D. need to turn writer?
According to freelance writer and founder of writingcareer.com, Brian Konradt, the following skills are prerequisites for a successful freelance writing career:
1. Writing Skills.
2. Marketing Skills.
3. Client Skills.
4. Personal Skills.
5. Management Skills.
So, do you think you have what it takes? As a lawyer, you may already consider yourself a master of several, if not all, of these skills. Of course, checking off these skills is no guarantee that you're going to achieve writing success, but if you're after success (however you define it) and you're determined, you may just find it. If you've been meaning to write--and find yourself dreaming about writing--maybe it's time now to take the plunge?
P.S. You don't have to give up your day job to write. Just write something, anything.
