Details: Organization with mission to lead teen girls in the California juvenile justice system toward accountability to self, others and community by providing practical tools to effect behavioral change. Currently working with at-risk youth in residential facilities located in San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, the program follows a gender-specific art and yoga curriculum designed to focus on early intervention and preparation for a positive future. We are currently seeking an experienced non-profit Executive Director to successfully lead The Art of Yoga Project through rapid growth and expansion.

The Executive Director will provide strategic direction and organizational leadership to The Art of Yoga Project, establishing a scalable and solid foundation for future growth while guiding successful execution of our mission. Working with a direct staff of eight, s/he will have primary accountability for a) administration, budget and operations, b) development and fundraising, c) management and staffing, and d) agency and community relations. In addition, the Executive Director will have oversight of curriculum and program development and delivery, and research and evaluation.

Primary responsibilities:

- Working with the Board of Directors, develop long-term strategic plan, including determining key objectives and milestones towards capacity building, organizational growth, program delivery, and quantitative research goals
- Manage administration, budgets, compliance, and reporting; developing and implementing policies, procedures and tools for greater operational efficiency
- Cultivate relationships with a broad spectrum of agencies and organizations, including government (e.g. juvenile justice system, human services), education, non-profit, philanthropic, and yoga and creative arts communities
- Develop and direct fundraising initiatives, including agency and foundation grants, corporate partnerships, individual donors, and major gifts
- Manage paid staff of eight, with oversight for external accounting and legal firms and volunteer staff including researchers and yoga teachers
- Work closely with Director of Program Development to support program delivery and continued curriculum development; direct third-party affiliate program including distribution and revenue management
- Identify opportunities for education, involvement and leadership through initiatives impacting at-risk youth
- Direct marketing communications and public relations, including collateral, events, press, web site

Required Qualifications:

- Minimum 2 years experience as a non-profit Executive Director building a community based organization, or 5 years as senior management of national non-profit organization with direct oversight for budget, development, operations, program delivery and evaluation, and staffing
- Solid management skills in both strategic and tactical areas; confidence and leadership with which to guide organization towards a shared vision
- Expertise in fundraising and development; existing relationships with funding community, strong knowledge of opportunities and resources, familiarity with non-profit revenue models
- Experience practicing or teaching yoga: understanding basic concepts and benefits
- Experience with fundraising and scheduling software helpful (eTapestry, Mind/Body Online)
- Background in education, healthcare, law, research, social work or experience working with at-risk youth or other underserved populations a plus
- Minimum Bachelors Degree; Masters or other post-graduate work preferred
