The Slash Identity

Is your identity defined with a slash? Lawyer/Mom. Lawyer/Dad. Stay-at-Home Mom/Contract Lawyer. Lawyer/Professor/Parent. Lawyer/Small Business Owner/Foster Parent.

If you've ever been challenged on your slash identity, check out Stephanie West Allen's post, Law is a 'slash' profession: Some career advice. According to West Allen, as you try to figure out your slash identity (and the degree to which the law is right for you), "'the creative process' should include assessing your values, interests, and aptitudes."

The new American Bar Association Book, Staying at Home, Staying in the Law: A Guide to Remaining Active in the Legal Profession While Pursuing Your Dreams also tackles the subject of slash identities in the law.
