It's when authors and aspiring authors take on a 30 day challenge to write a 175-page (50,000 word) novel.  The stories of how writers find the time to write 50,000 words in this time frame are truly mind blowing--on the bus, on the train, during stop and go traffic (hmmm, probably not the safest or most focused way to write), on a BlackBerry, before work, in the middle of the night, after the kids are in bed....
