Darling Hill Giveaway: Autographed Copy of Mommy’s High Heel Shoes
Author Kristie Finnan has sent Darling Hill an autographed copy of her new book, Mommy's High Heel Shoes.
This book is about the many shoes (think Hats analogy) that today's moms wear. Finnan's book, with adorable illustrations by Pat Achilles, helps children understand the lives of working mothers and the challenge of balancing it all. Cakes, a young girl, discovers that "Mommy's high heel shoes are tricky to walk in. They wobble. They flip and flp. Sometimes, they fall off." Sweetly written, with a cupcake theme, Finnan tackles the modern mom's dilemma of work/life balance.
Mommy says there are some days she wishes she didn't have to go to work. I can see why she says that. Walking in her shoes is not easy! - From Mommy's High Heel Shoes
This fun book is one of those books that children will beg to read over and over again--plus, they'll love looking for hidden ladybugs, hearts & cupcakes. After a hard day "trying to do it all", you may also find yourself begging to read it, if only for the simple reassurance it provides about our grownup work/life choices.
Mommy's High Heels Shoes would make a great holiday gift. The book has even scored a spot on Darling Hill's 2008 Holiday Gift List.
How to enter/rules: To enter the giveaway (retail value $16.99), leave a comment below mentioning one of the challenges lawyers face in trying to "have it all" in the legal profession. Contest ends Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at midnight. One winner will be selected at random (good ol’ fashioned lottery draw, only by high-tech random number generation). No purchase to enter. Winner must have a U.S. mailing address, and be at least 18 years old to enter. Odds depend on number of comment entries received. Void where prohibited by law. Good luck!

Getting out the door in the morning trying to drop my son off at preschool and make it to court on time is a challenge. I'd love this book b/c every morning I'm like, momy has to go to work!
Try leaving court early to see your eight-year-old daughter's 15-second Thanksgiving play during which you receive a frantic cell phone call about an emergency case that simply can't wait the 30 minutes that it takes for you to get back to work, not to mention the three people sitting in the hallway outside your office that won't leave until you see them.
I'm not a lawyer, but when I was growing up that was in my top 3 professions of choice. Now I'm actually a sahm who works pt for a pizza place, but hey it's work. LOL Anyhow, I'd love to enter this giveaway if that's okay.
I'd guess that a challenge any parenting lawyer faces is simply having enough time to be where he/she wants to be. With big cases to work on all the time I can imagine it's a very time consuming profession that doesn't always allow for the simplar things in life. (hugs)

Having to work long hours on cases can be tough to keep the family life going as well. Also, working in the court system the hours are not always the same, who knows how long the case will last, it can be tough to work out daycare and plan things.
