Ace the Interview: Why Do You Want to Practice Part-Time?
If you're one of the lucky ones to score an interview for a part-time gig, get ready to answer the big question: why do you want to work or practice part-time?
Employers who are looking to hire part-time attorneys are likely interested in figuring out whether you're interested in the opportunity as-is or if you're hoping it will evolve into full-time work.
In this economy, this question--and the answer--may matter more than ever. Employers will likely want to get a sense of how long you'll be around--whether you're only interested in the position for the short-term, until something better, like a full-time offer, rolls around--and whether you're worth the investment.
Flexibility is cited as the big draw to part-time practice. Studies suggest that part-timers are usually quite content with their work arrangements, though there are drawbacks--especially in terms of compensation and benefits.
Before you go for an interview, it's essential to figure out why you really want to work part-time. The last thing you want is to find yourself scrambling to pull off a convincing answer when the answer matters most.

I want to have a different ratio of workplace to outside committment than the usual. Chosing between 40 hours a week at the workplace, or 40 hours a week at home are not the only options.
How irnoic you posted this today. I have an interview and if they asked me this question I would be like, um I work PT now and I like it.
