Thursday, April 30, 2009: Pinkslips, Detours & OnRamps:
Restart, Recharge or Reinvent Your Legal Career On Your Own Terms (10-2, Busboys and Poets at 5th & K Street, Washington DC). If you're contempating going solo (for whatever reason), looking to reenter the profession after a career detour, or dreaming about putting your degree to work from home in between laundry and diaper changes, pull out the highlighter for this don't miss event!
I'm thrilled to announce that I've joined forces with Carolyn Elefant to create the first of a series of workshops entitled Pinkslips, Detours & OnRamps:
Restart, Recharge or Reinvent Your Legal Career On Your Own Terms. Carolyn is the talent and inspiration behind the MyShingle Blog, author of the popular book, Solo By Choice: How to Be the Lawyer You Always Wanted to Be, and a leading expert on the nuts and bolts of starting a solo practice. Carolyn is also a mom and knows firsthand the work/life challenges that lawyer parents face in the profession.
Not only will this event energize you and help you map out a plan to restart, recharge or reinvent your legal career, but you'll have an opportunity to network with local lawyers with similar goals and interests.
Later this week, workshop registration details will be announced. For now, save the date and head over to Carolyn's blog to download her e-book collection of posts on Moms, Solo Practice and the 21st Century. We will be offering an early bird registration discount and some amazing giveaways, so be sure to check back for the details soon!
P.S. If you'd love to attend, but simply can't stand the thought of leaving your baby with a sitter for the afternoon, pack the Baby Bjorn and bring that adorable bundle along!
